Pennsylvania's Healthy Steps for Older Adults

Cover of the Healthy Steps Guide for Older Adults
Project Summary:

In 2016, HRA issued a new edition of its fall-prevention guide, Healthy Steps for Older Adults. Among older adults, falls are the number one cause of loss of independence. The Healthy Steps guide is part of Pennsylvania’s fall-prevention and physical activity program for seniors. The Pennsylvania Department of Aging has been providing this comprehensive program since 2004. Healthy Steps was adapted for Silicon Valley in California in 2008.

The 64-page guide covers home safety, fall prevention, physical activity, health issues, and social engagement for adults ages 50 and up. It was developed using best practices in health communication and health literacy.
