Project Summary:

"Every Step Counts" is a resource for parents of children from birth to 5. The research-based guide uses best practices in health communication and health literacy. It is based on HRA’s Parent Guide model, which has shown effectiveness in reaching parents of all income levels and many ethnicities. It is distributed to new parents in Pittsburgh and other communities in Allegheny County, Pennsylvania.

The guide is organized developmentally, so that parents can quickly find the information that is relevant to their child’s age, from birth to five years. It covers pregnancy, birth, child development, choosing childcare, and health and safety issues. Parents are linked to websites and toll-free phone numbers where they can find more information or assistance.
