Health Care Access

Improving access to health care is one of the most important challenges we face. As part of our mission to reduce health disparities, Health Research for Action has developed a range of policy-level interventions:

• We are working with the state of California to change regulations that determine how key protections in California law are explained to HMO members.
• We are developing consumer tools, including a statewide template for a guide to coverage for HMO members.
• We are working with policymakers and other stakeholders to improve transitional care for seniors.
• We are conducting trainings and consultations with HMOs, medical groups, advocacy groups, and state agencies to improve the readability and usability of member materials.
