Health Literacy
How do you act on a message you don’t understand? Most health messages are increasingly complex and technical, yet the average American reads at a 7th to 9th grade level. The gap in understanding can lead to increased hospitalizations and health disparities.
At Health Research for Action, we’re working to close that gap. We explain complex health issues to audiences with vastly different cultures, literacy levels, and sensibilities. Our goal is to help all consumers, especially those with limited reading skills, understand and act on important health information.
Health literacy services:
- We assess the literacy levels and the effectiveness of your information resources.
- We develop and distribute information for large, diverse, and multilingual audiences.
- We provide training to maximize the effectiveness and use of information resources.
